The 2023 annual meeting of the Australian Society for Biophysics 

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the University of Wollongong Innovation Campus. 

The 47th annual ASB meeting will be held December 3rd to 6th with an emphasis on all things biophysics! Earlybird registration and abstract submission are now open and will close September 8th!

This year’s meeting promises a dynamic and exciting scientific program with plenty of opportunities to network and socialize. Program highlights include:

• Keynote speaker Prof Thorsten Wohland (National University of Singapore)
• Keynote speaker Prof Renae Ryan (University of Sydney)
• Keynote speaker Prof Megan O’Mara (University of Queensland)
• ECR grant writing workshop with Sprout scientific
• ASB Young Biophysicist Award session
• Conference dinner at Lucia’s By the Sea included with registration (Monday 4th)
• Poster sessions with accompanying flash talks
• ASB Annual General Meeting (Wednesday 6th)

The full conference program and associated events are open to all delegates registered for the conference. Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be catered Monday-Wednesday. Further information about the venue and travel to and around Wollongong as well as a list of accommodation options will be provided soon.

Travel Support

The Jan Anderson Carers Award offers financial support for ASB members with primary caring responsibilities whilst they are attending scientific conferences.

The ASB also offers travel bursaries to students who are a member of the ASB and will be submitting an abstract to present a talk or poster at the 2023 ASB meeting. To be eligible, the student must reside outside the city in which the conference is being held.

Registration & Abstract Submission

Registration for the conference and abstract submission for contributed talks and poster/flash talk sessions are now open.

To take advantage of the reduced member registration fee, please make sure you are an ASB member before you register for the conference. You can join or renew your membership here. Registration includes full access to all conference presentations and poster sessions, morning/afternoon tea and lunch on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, and a ticket to the conference dinner on the Monday night. Additional tickets to the dinner can be purchased during registration. For any queries please get in touch!

We welcome abstracts from students and academics from all career stages doing any type of biophysical research. You may choose to nominate your abstract for consideration as a selected talk (15+5 minutes) or as a poster with a flash presentation (2-3 minutes). When preparing your abstract, please use the provided abstract template.
