ASB 50th Annual Meeting 2026

Join the Australian Society for Biophysics in Bendigo for four days of outstanding science, collaboration, and community at the Golden 50th Annual ASB Scientific Conference in 2026.

Hosted by La Trobe University, ASB2026 will bring together researchers and students of all career stages from across Australia, New Zealand and overseas to showcase the latest advances in biophysics. The meeting will feature internationally recognised invited speakers, more than 50 selected research presentations, and another 50 flash talks and posters, dedicated student and early-career researcher activities and prizes, and a range of networking and professional development opportunities.

On this important anniversary, this year’s meeting also celebrates the history and future of Australian biophysics. Alongside our scientific program, we’ll recognise new Life Members, hear reflections from some of the Society’s founders and long-standing members, and launch several new Society initiatives and awards.

Scientific sessions spanning Sunday afternoon until Thursday lunchtime.
Invited keynote presentations
A special Asian Biophysical Association (ABA) joint international session with speakers and conference attendees from ASB2026 and the joint Japanese and Korean Biophysical Societies’ meeting from Seoul!
Multiple dedicated poster and networking events
The Biophysics Public Lecture at Bendigo’s historic Capital Theatre followed by drinks and nibbles
On campus welcome mixers with drinks and food on Sunday and Monday night
Morning teas, lunches, and conference catering throughout the meeting
A celebratory conference dinner (with transport) at Chateau Dore winery on the Wednesday night (included in all conference tickets, spaces limited)

Present Your Research

Whether you’re an undergraduate student presenting for the first time or an established investigator, ASB2026 offers multiple opportunities to share your work through selected talks or posters with flash talks. Following the success of previosu years, all poster-presenters are given the opportunity to present a two-minute taste of their research to the fell conference delegation presentations in sessions prior to their poster sessions!

Society Awards

Applications and nominations are now open for a range of Australian Society for Biophysics awards, recognising outstanding contributions from students through to established researchers. Awards include the Bob Robertson Award, McAulay–Hope Prize, Emerging Biophysicist Award, Outstanding Thesis Research Prize, and EMCR Lectureship! Award nominations close August 28th.
